Working in France

Working in France

Didn't find your answer?

A potential new client has approached me but I'm not sure if this is the right client for me.

They have a UK registered company that does maintenance work on property in France mainly for UK residents with holiday homes but also work for locals.

The director lives in France and has been for the past year/ 18 months. According to them they have informed the IR that they retired to France though they are not of retirement age.

They invoice the UK owners in sterling and have UK business bank accounts.

Can they continue working in this way or should they register in France and pay French taxes rather than UK?

Where do I look on the IR web site. Have tried but no luck so far, probably looking in the wrong place. Anywhere else I can look?

I would walk ....
The director and the company are clearly resident in France and should be paying tax there.

When the French authorities find out it will not be pleasant. If you think that HMRC can be officious and awkward then think again.

You will also have to consider the money laundering position.

Peter,

Have you managed to find an answer to this question.

I posted a similar question on 7 September, but also got no response.
