Yet another HMRC foul-up. BEWARE!

Yet another HMRC foul-up. BEWARE!

Didn't find your answer?

Filed by own 06/07 Tax Return on line this year. Ticked box 23.1 so liability NOT collected through PAYE code (I know for a fact I did coz I'm sitting here looking at the copy)

Checked account a moment ago, and hey presto! Liability has been coded out! Looks like they forgot to "flick the switch" like last year.

Got me wondering how many of my clients now have the same error.......

Will it never end.......?

I must admit....
....that when I called HMRC I had no trouble in getting them to put the liability back on the statement, though they did not mention it was an error they were aware of. Just begs to wonder whether in fact it will indeed be removed from the code, or whether I will be having an argument in January next year!

Service issue with box 23.1
I had the same problem about 6 weeks ago, and after being told by HMRC that it must be my software at fault, I discovered that HMRC is aware of a problem with the tick disappearing.

There is a notice on the website, but nobody can tell me when it will be fixed. This is very frustrating, and I have stopped filing Returns where this will cause a problem

It takes a long telephone call to the contact centre to pursuade an "adviser" to reverse the coding adjustment, but this does not reverse the adjustment to the payments on account. HMRC do not appear to be bothered that they are losing interest.

I just wish they could sort out such a minor issue. I would not accept this sort of service from my service provider, and it is my money paying HMRC's contractors. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.
