Yet another Self Assessment glitch???

Yet another Self Assessment glitch???

Didn't find your answer?

Yesterday I received a reminder notice to complete and submit our own partnership tax return by 31 January 2007. However the return was submitted back in October 2006 by FBI.

I quickly checked the Revenue website which confirmed safe receipt of said return back in October and so I decided it was just a one off glitch.

However this morning I have already had two phone calls from clients who have received similar notices, both implying that I was not doing my job properly. In both caese I was able to calm them down and assure them (after checking with the Revenue website) that their partnership tax returns had indeed been submitted and were recorded on the website as having been received last summer.

Am I just unlucky or are others out there experiencing the same problem?

If its a national problem then its a huge own goal by the powers that be. Perhaps AccountingWeb could also add this recent glitch to the list of issues to take up with the Revenue (with a copy to Lord Carter so that he is aware that the system is still not robust!!).

Check UTR numbers
It might be worth checking the UTR's that are shown on the reminders.
I had a few cases some years ago where for some reason that now escapes me there had been two UTR's set up for the same partership and of course you send a return in but still get reminders for the UTR for which a Return has not been submitted.

Not a UTR number issue
Thanks Ian, but its not duplicated UTR numbers.

Each client gave me the UTR numbers quoted on the Revenue reminder notice over the phone and they corresponded with the reference numbers I had used to submit the returns in the first place.

same thing - submitted partnership return online 17th October - got confirmation on both the tax software and the email - client rings yesterday to say they have a reminder.

It's a real pain..
