Zone Alarm has started to come up with "HTTP 403 Forbidden" error messages on the HMRC website (and other sites), and won't allow me into perfectly ordinary areas.
Has this happened to you?
Do you know a cure?

I wasn't aware of a 403 problem with ZA ....
.... but I am now.
You remark you removed ZA and installed AVG. ZA is a firewall whereas AVG is - typically - referred to when antivirus apps. are discussed NOT in the context of firewalls.
I'm assuming you have the AVG product with firewall. I certainly hope so.
Thank you, yes
Thank you. Yes, I bought what they call their security suite. It includes anti-virus and firewall, as does ZA when purchased (as opposed to their freebie).
odd one....
Hi John
I use ZA Pro + Firefox and I don't get a 403. I haven't been clearing cache, personal data etc. The HMRC website still works fine for me.
Normally a 403 indicates that, although you have made a valid request for data from a webpage and the page has been found, your access is forbidden. The HMRC server is refusing to respond to your request.
I don't know why this would happen to you.
You could try clearing out your cache, prefetch fies and other "temporary" file locations then logging on again to the site.
Ccleaner will clear out your temp. files etc. Get it here free....
Post back & let me know how you get on. If you still have problems I'll think again.
Recent Upgrade Causes This Problem
Thank you, Gareth.
I understand that only those who have uploaded the most recent version of Zone Alarm have this problem. I googled "Zone Alarm Error 403" and found a forum dedicated to this topic.
Our machines running earlier versions of (purchased) Zone Alarm are okay. We have the problem with one machine onto which we had downloaded the most recent (purchased) Zone Alarm.
We have uninstalled Zone Alarm and purchased AVG. The problem has not reappeared.
