More questions over Tesco accounting scandal

More unanswered questions remain in Tesco’s accounting scandal about the size of the blackhole and what was behind it.

The major retailer wants to draw a line under scandal, but an SFO probe into events at Tesco could last for up to seven years, according to City lawyers.

The Telegraph commented: “So the roots of the inflated profit shortfall and the perpetrators, if it was created deliberately, will not be confirmed for some time.”

Dappy puts house on market to service HMRC debt

Former N Dubz star Dappy owes the Revenue so much money he's had to put his house on the market to help clear his debts.

According to The Mirror the performer was paid £100,000 for his stint on Celebrity Big Brother. But during his sentencing at Guildford Crown Court this week, his defence argued that had Dappy been sent to jail he would have been worried about his ability to provide for his two children or service his debts.

Hiring and pay growth slow in October

Last month permanent hirings via recruitment companies rose at the slowest pace in nearly a year and growth in starting salaries also weakened, according to the Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC) and KPMG.

Permanent staff salaries rose at the weakest rate since February while pay for temporary and contract staff slowed to a five-month low, the new research revealed.

Reuters also reported that the UK’s unemployment rate tumbled to 6% in the three months to August, down from 7.7% a year earlier.

What’s been your experience of the current job market? If you’re looking to hire, are the right kind of candidates readily available?
