Day two of Accountex gets underway in a matter of minutes and AccountingWEB will be at stand A408 again as official media partner. Top news headlines this morning feature an OECD attack on ‘aggressive tax plans’ by technology companies and the reappointment of David Gauke.

OECD attacks tech companies

Technology companies need to stop extremely aggressive tax planning, says Pascal Saint-Amans, of the OECD's Centre for Tax Policy.

Saint-Amans said that new standards would require companies to pay more tax in the countries where they sold goods or created revenues.

According to the BBC he also said companies should not use tax havens to shelter their profits.

David Gauke reappointed as financial secretary

Conservative MP David Gauke has been reappointed as financial secretary to the Treasury.

Gauke was first appointed financial secretary to Treasury in July last year and prior to that was exchequer secretary to the Treasury.

Ros Altmann was also named as pensions minster on Monday, replacing Liberal Democrat Steve Webb who lost his seat in the election, reports City Wire.
