Accountant stands as elected mayor for Bristol

Chartered accountant Geoff Gollop will be in the running next month for the newly created post of elected mayor for Bristol.

Back in May the people of Bristol, from a turnout of 24%, voted in favour of a directly elected mayor to run the city council by a margin of 5,100 votes.

Since then 11 individuals have said they will stand in the upcoming elections, including Conservative candidate Geoff Gollop (OBE) who last year became Lord Mayor of the city.
