Charity accountant jailed for three years
A Bristol-based accountant has been jailed for three years after stealing £562,000 from a hospital charity fund to buy a hoard of old and classic cars.
Brendan Joyce, of Whitchurch, south Bristol, spent the money on 105 vehicles stored in more than 80 lock-up garages across the city.
Bristol Crown Court heard how the “eccentric” accountant trawled online auction sites to bid on a range of vehicles. The majority were low value cars; however the collection did have some more desirable vehicles, including Triumph Stags, Jaguar XJs and vintage Morris Minors.
