CIOT announces 2015-16 president

The CIOT has announced Practice Excellence Award judge and director of tax markets at Lexis Nexis Chris Jones as its 2015-16 president.

In addition it has named head of Deloitte's tax policy group Bill Dodwell as deputy president and John Preston, who has recently retired from PwC, as vice president. 

The new team were approved at a meeting of the CIOT’s Council yesterday and will take up their new roles from 12 May.

The professional body has also awarded two honorary fellowships, which celebrated the personalities' contribution to the field of taxation. The first was awarded jointly to Dame Fiona and Nicholas Woolf, and the second to professor of tax law at Pinsent Masons Judith Freedman.

The council has also appointed Sam Younger to succeed Sir Alistair Graham as lay public interest observer of the Institute's council.
