Police have discovered human remains just outside Bristol they believe to be that of Derek Serpell-Morris, better known as DJ Derek.
The decomposed remains were found late on Thursday afternoon in woodland close to The Mall shopping centre at Cribbs Causeway.
Although not yet formally identified, Avon and Somerset Police said they believe it is the DJ and former Cadbury’s accountant due to personal items found at the scene in Patchway.
They are currently treating the death as "unexplained”.
Morris was last seen on 11 July 2015 leaving the Criterion Pub in St Pauls, Bristol, and his bus pass was used later that day on a bus towards Thornbury. He was officially reported missing on 23 July.
After a long public appeal for information about his whereabouts, Derek's family had recently started the legal process to have him presumed dead.
Back in 2013 the company accountant turned dub disc spinner was crowned Born Dull?! personality of the year in AccountingWEB’s end of year community awards.
DJ Derek had come to the attention of AccountingWEB just weeks before his retirement from the DJing circuit and was honoured for his contribution and long service to both the worlds of accounting and music.
