Word reaches ExcelZone from EuSpRIG mainstay and Excel author Patrick O'Beirne that there will be an Excel developers’ conference in London on 25 January.

The event is being organised by Simon Murphy, otherwise known as blogger Smurfonspreadsheets and will take place at Skills Matter, a training venue in trendy Shoreditch.

Murphy himself will be discussing the “Excel Window”  - how spreadsheets are increasingly being used as a window into corporate data and logic. Another session from Bob Phillips will look at the practicalities of self-service business intelligence and will ask, “Will self-service BI happen?”

Some of the sessions cater Excel programming specialists and will explore VBA, Visual Studio and application development techniques and disciplines.

If this stuff is too rich for you, there’s a more inviting session at 6pm called “Pub: Drinking and arguing”.

“Events for advanced Excel users to share ideas are rare enough,” commented O’Beirne. If brushing up your Excel skills in on your CPD agenda, it will cost £200 to attend. You can register and pay here. NB: Earlybird discount has been extended for ExcelZone members.
