FD appeal dismissed over £250,000 fraud
A finance director who entered into a number of "improper transactions" has had his appeal dismissed after bringing discredit to himself, the ICAEW and the profession.
Nicholas Hill was an FD who wrote £105,000 worth of cheques to companies of which he was the beneficiary, and made a £145,000 profit on a property he acquired.
As highlighted in the Institute’s recent disciplinaries, a panel of the Appeal Committee found that between June 1999 and August 2006 the Crawley-based FD entered into a number of improper transactions without appropriate authority.
In relation to the seven specific allegations, he also failed to disclose the transactions to the company auditor or ensure that they were appropriately disclosed in the accounts.
