Financial controller stole £90k from developers

A young financial controller who stole more than £90,000 from Britain's top property tycoons was jailed for two years.

Ross Smith, 26, had control of huge client accounts for the luxury property developers, including overseeing the £20m interior design of 15 of Britain's most expensive apartments at One Hyde Park.

But over two-and-a-half years he plundered the company accounts and used their credit cards to fund a luxury lifestyle and pay his debts.

He later admitted to police he did it because he had got into debt and realised how "easy" it was to steal from his bosses Nick Candy, who is married to singer Holly Valance, and his brother Christian, claiming the pair had lax financial controls.
