The FRC has appointed a new chair to its Financial Reporting Review Panel.
Geoffrey Green will take up the position on 1 April 2015 when the current chair, Richard Fleck, steps down.
Green was senior partner of law firm Ashurst LLP from 1998 to 2008. He then became managing partner in Asia for Ashurst and was based in Hong Kong until his retirement in 2013.
His experience as a corporate lawyer includes advising on merger and acquisition transactions in the UK and abroad.
As chair of the Financial Reporting Review Panel, Green is a member of the FRC Conduct Committee and chair of the Monitoring Committee. This has a large role in ensuring the consistency and quality of the FRC's accounting and audit monitoring work.
Chair of the FRC’s Conduct Committee David Childs said the former corporate lawyer's reputation and keen interest in corporate governance means he's the right man for the job.
"He combines the intellectual rigour required for the role with a pragmatic approach, which will help the Panel continue to reach appropriate judgements. I am very grateful to Richard Fleck for his excellent chairmanship of the FRRP since 2012 and I wish him well for the future.”
