ICAEW launches export guide

The ICAEW has launched an export guide for accountants working with small businesses to support the government’s mission to increase export levels.

International Trade: An Accountants Guide was published to support the government's Exporting for Growth campaign in recognition of the key role the profession will play in boosting the UK’s export level from the current 20% to the EU average of 25%.

"ICAEW members up and down the land will have SMEs in their portfolio. And because they’re their accountants, they will know them well and how their business works," said trade and investment minister Lord Green.

"There’s an opportunity, [maybe] not to become the person who helps that company get into country A, but at the very least to know the local UKTI director well and say, 'Let me introduce you'."

The ICAEW’s recent Global Enterprise Survey Report 2011 showed a larger proportion of exporters recorded growth in the past year than non-exporters. It also indicates that 7% of UK non-exporters have definite plans to start exporting in the next two years.
