A further nine former RSM Tenon partners have jumped ship to Mazars following the firm’s pre-pack deal with Baker Tilly over the summer.

This is the second group to join Mazars and follows the recruitment of another six former Tenon partners to its East Midlands office back in May.

Eight of the nine new partners, who together offer a range of audit, accounting, tax and advisory services, join from the former Tenon office in Edinburgh.

They include:

  • Margaret Laidlaw
  • Laura Clarkson
  • Brian Hay-Smith
  • Keith Marshall
  • Fiona Martin
  • John McLeod
  • Liz Ritchie
  • Kevin Windram

Paul Bevan, a corporate finance specialist, will also join the firm in the East Midlands from January 2014.

Phil Verity, UK senior partner at Mazars, said: “We are keen to grow our presence in Scotland and the arrival of this team will undoubtedly give us a significant boost. A number of the key business sectors in Scotland reflect our strategic growth market, including financial services, where Mazars has a long history and highly-regarded expertise.

“There is also clearly an opportunity for growth in other areas where we have strong capabilities, in the owner-managed business sector and the private client market.”

Margaret Laidlaw added:  “Mazars is a great fit for us; in particular the dedication to client service and strong values-based culture. We’re extremely happy we’ve made the decision to move and look forward to playing our part in the future development of the firm in Scotland and the UK.”

At the end of August after Tenon struggled to meet its banking covenants, mid-tier rival Baker Tilly agreed the sale its trading entities. Tenon's parent company had entered administration with Deloitte as joint administrators, and then immediately sold the trading operations to Baker Tilly in a pre-pack deal.

Last week Tenon changed its registered entity names to Baker Tilly at Companies House.
