PwC to probe RBS tech bungle

PwC has been called in to investigate the computer malfunction that affected millions of RBS customers.

The Big Four accountancy firm was appointed by the RBS board after City watchdog the Financial Services Authority asked nine banks to reveal their IT contingency plans. The FSA wants to prevent software glitches like the one at RBS in June from happening again.

Account holders at RBS and its NatWest and Ulster Bank subsidiaries faced disruption after a software upgrade at the bank in June meant that payments into and out of accounts didn’t show.
