AccountingWEB will be rolling out its annual celebration of excellence in software with the launch of the 2013 Software Satisfaction Awards (SSAs) programme.

Over the summer months we’ll be asking you our readers to tell us not only what software you’re using, but also how it’s delivering for your business.

There will be a major online awards ceremony in October so you can see the movers and shakers in the software industry win their awards.

More importantly, up to £1,500 worth of Amazon vouchers will be up for grabs just for taking part in the survey.

The SSAs provide the best opportunity to feedback on how the business software vendors have performed over the last year – watch this space!

My vote goes to Taxfiler for excellent and economical tax software for the smaller practitioner at absolutely knock down prices. In terms of functionality it is cheaper and superior to Drummohr, my old Iris tax software and is web-based so I am not tied by a single user license for a single machine.

KashFlow

My vote goes to KashFlow. They automate many long winded tasks that used to take up much of my spare time. Not an issue anymore! Plus the invoices have so many customization options that you can make the invoice appear in almost any way you like. I also enjoy the fact that you can submit directly to HMRC. Would like the multi user option but this is no biggie and my understanding from looking at their suggestion centre is that it will be released by October. I wish I had moved to the cloud earlier. I think I will be staying with KashFlow for years.

Onion software

For those of you who use excel to produce management accounts and information Onion provides a brilliant solution. It takes raw data from Sage and outputs it to excel as monthly P&Ls BS etc.Very cheap, easy to use a powerful management tool.
