Baker Tilly’s Revas online accounting service has added Twinfield to its portfolio.

The firm’s chief operating officer David Buxton and managing director Mark Holland told AccountingWEB the cloud accounting platform had the capabilities to make Revas a “one-stop shop”.

Praising the system's innovative user interface, Holland said, “This is a genuine web-based cloud accounting app. Twinfield will add extended functionality and flexibility that we’ve had to previously build into our product.”

Revas was set up in 2006 as Baker Tilly’s outsourcing arm. It offers clients a back-office accounting function via an online client portal.

The outsourcer has incorporated a number of external products into its package, including Access FocalPoint and InPay, along with business intelligence (BI) and benchmarking tools.

The addition of Twinfield will establish Revas as a fully integrated and scalable cloud accounting solution, ready for what Holland calls “the next generation” of accounting.

“Its Twinapps, enhanced scanning tool and level of automation - its ability to pre-populate items - gives it a modern edge and makes it a next generation portal.”

Baker Tilly has its own team of software developers, and is one of the very few firms in the UK to do so.

Holland wrote prophetically in a 2007 article: “The future will see companies increasingly looking to avoid the implementation and administrative hassles, not to mention the costs, of traditional salaried finance departments. This shift will open the way for an array of new online applications.”

The choice of a Netherlands-based accounting software house perhaps reflects Twinfield founder Andre Kwakernaat's claims that the Dutch are “two to three years” ahead of the UK in terms of cloud adoption and service offerings.

“There is an opportunity there for all UK accountancy practices to adapt their environment to this kind of service delivery and a huge potential for small and medium sized businesses to adopt this new finance function,” Holland said.

“If you don’t adapt, you’re going to suffer in the future.”

Revas first met with Twinfield after getting introduced by a mutual acquaintance and followed up with a visit to the Netherlands to meet the Twinfield team and carry out physical due diligence on the cloud software’s data centres.

“It was like Fort Knox, very secure,” Holland said.

The firm will continue to work with Twinfield on further integration with Revas.

Who has any good and bad experiences to share regarding Revas?

Hi

I am setting up a new company and am looking at partnering with Revas, and their In-Time solution.

It would be great to hear the Good, bad and ugly stories before I make the leap.

Many thanks
