The Sales for Accountants blog from Insight, exclusively for accountants - a free accountancy blog resource packed with great sales and marketing content
Over the next 12 – 18 months we believe that almost every accountancy firm will have a blog and start blogging. Simply because the benefits to having a blog are so strong, the cost to getting a blog running so low, and running a blog, actually saves most accountancy firms or senior partners valuable time!
Perhaps unsurprisingly there are a lot of bad, early blogs out there! As you will see from the examples below many make the simple mistake of having the blog separate from their website – making usability a pain and you lose out on the great SEO benefits of a blog. Some firms will even be setting up a blog as an apparent afterthought to the website, and actually competing against its main site for Google rankings! Not least because Google values fresh, new, social content much more than a static website.
So here are 6 great accountants blogs + any that readers choose to add through comments
1. HFM Tax | Well Integrated Blog | Simple to Navigate and Use
The HFM Tax blog, although relatively new, has some excellent things going for it:
2. Cheap Accounting | Clear well written Blog | Good Content
The Cheap Accounting Blog is a well-written Blog that has been nicely designed and is clear to read.
The Cheap Accounting blog is a good quality, structured blog. What lets it down is the lack of integration between the blog and the website. The blog is hard to find from the main site, and if you click the website Icon on the right it re-loads the primary site in a new window.
3. MAGIC Chartered Accountants | Funky, Cool and Different
If you have not seen Magic then its worth a look, they have a well designed blog that contains some good content.
So the Magic blog has a lot going for it, but once again unlike the HFM blog it has not been well integrated with the MAGIC website so users end up either being on a blog or on the website.
4. Caplan Associates | Well integrated | Great Design | Good Content
The Caplan blog is a great example of a well-designed, developed and integrated blog.
If you visit the senior partner’s profile – Philip Caplan, on LinkedIn his blog also appears in his personal profile page visible to all his connections
5. TWD Accountants | Integrated | Regular Content | Good design
The TWD blog is a great example of a blog that is added to on a regular basis and that is integrated with the site and has been well developed.
The TWD blog has a lot of positives going for it, what it lacks is integration into its social media marketing, there are no twitter feeds etc.
6. Dental CPAS | Highly Industry Specific | Massive Content | Over 50,000 page views
Before you all comment that this is not a UK example, we know, but we wanted to provide an example of a blog that’s been going for a while that is highly focused and industry specific. The big advantage to this is optimisation, everything that appears on this blog will be relating to the dental industry. The result? It will rank for the keywords that the practice really desires whilst developing a strong industry brand.
The blog itself is not brilliantly designed nor integrated, but is a great example of what firms could be doing in niche markets like dental, heath, vetinary, farming etc
We hope you find these examples helpful and if you would like any further help or advice on your current or new blog just post a comment below.
Please also add any accountancy blogs (including your own) to the comments, if you think they are good we will add them to a future list
