AccountingWEB recently attended the UK200 annual conference in Edinburgh and caught up with those exhibiting at the event.

Robert Lambden, founder and managing director of Online 50 (UK200 Group prime partner), Sage 50 online accounts specialist, shared some of his thoughts with account manager Ben Smith of where he thought cloud accounting was going.

"Most accountants are seeing the adoption of cloud as inevitable and are implementing it differently - i.e. some buying their own equipment, some outsourcing," he said.

"The firms we have seen are citing benefits such as enabling flexible working, better management of software licences. Those who are using it aren't going back," he added.

Lambden added that accountants are too hesitant about the value they bring to their clients, and need to be more confident in that area as they really are adding value to their clients' businesses.

Ahead of the game?

Problem is that Sage Line 50 is so behind the game people will go elsewhere.
