Any Answers – Making it easier to ask your questions
We’re very proud of the Any Answers section here on AccountingWEB. It’s consistently one of the busiest and most viewed areas of the site and we love seeing the amount of discussion, support and advice that’s shared through everyone’s posts.
One thing we wanted to do, however, was improve the way in which members are able to pitch their queries to the community. Today, we’ve updated the terms you see when selecting a topic to a range of new options:
- Accountants in industry & commerce [aka Business]
- Members interested tax and related topics
- Tax advisers preparing SA returns
- Practitioners
- Members interested in discussing technology
- Excel users
Content still appears under the same selection of tabs on the Any Answers page but this way, we want to encourage you to think about your chosen audience when asking a question. A big factor here is differentiating between Business and Practice questions. We appreciate that every sole practitioner or practice owner can also be considered to be part of a business so we wanted to clarify the two sections to help promote both areas to the right people.
Have a go with the new format and be sure to let us know what you think.
Thanks!

Public sector?
A public sector option was mooted. Has this been ruled out?
