The much talked about heatwave is upon us and I for one started suffering at the thought.

A few years ago when temperatures were raised I instituted the custom of purchasing ice cream for the staff

A small gesture but it went a very long way - strange , all the diets were put on hold

What's your attitude to staff comfort in extreme weather ?

Staff comfort is important

Staff are the real profit earners in any business. Regarding clothing, anything goes (within reason), as long as the garments are not too 'distracting'. Plenty of fans available and frequent breaks.

My sole employee gets treats fairly regularly, so an ice cream wouldn't go amiss. :)

EDIT: I also get 'treats' from my employee. It's a 'give & take' type of office.

Agree with Shirley

I know before anyone goes urgh,  last year when it was really really hot. We went around in our bare feet.  (No smell I promise) and everyone agreed they could if they wanted to.   The answer would have been no if any one of the staff minded.   Unless we were meeting a client everyones shoes were back on.   We are not used to the heat in Scotland.   I really struggle in heat if it goes past 20 I am dying ( really) . I can get sunburnt in 16 degrees.

People wear sandals so bare feet is nothing.    I was asked and I knew no client was coming that day and would see so it did not bother me.   I walk in my bare feet all the time when not at work.

Staff would get ice creams anyway  we share what is in the fridge freezer whether hot or cold.  All biscuits are shared.

It is a £1 for a box of various ice creams in Iceland and you can get a great choice. It is not gong to break the bank.

We still have thank Crunchie is it Friday.

Barefeet is lot less offensive then everything hanging out.

Scottish heat and staff gifts

Yes I know all about it , being raised in Soctland. I used to come out in a rash at around 20 degrees and even now above 17 degrees I get (even more)  fractious and lethargic

I had an employee who used to treat me to chocs / whisky on my birthday

We've just polished off our ice creams and know all the keyboards are sticky but morale is high !

Good Luck tomorrow

Well tomorrow is 35 so good luck you may need to put your feet in a ice bucket at that it . Ice Cream will just not cut it.

I am not convinced the always right.    It is supposed to be 20 degrees and sunny in Glasgow it may be 20 degrees but there is no sun,
