Can we make it?

January 30 - Yes, I know that implies I've watched too much Bob the Builder in my time - which I am sure is true. But the obvious question having acquired a list of customers to serve is to work out if we can supply product to meet their need.

So there was a threefold task today. First was to match what we make to products of the failed belgian company, suggesting what substitues for what.

Second, if new fixings etc are needed they're rapidly going into design.

Third, all this is being translated asap. Yes, everyone reads English, but why alienate people?

Fourth, mailing and calls have begun.

It's all created a rather nice buzz. I like that!

Now you have something else instead of holding the line to maintain steady state. You have the opportunity to really grow the business into exciting new markets and see value added to the business...

After some of the 'why are you there' postings of the last few months, I suspect you have got your bounce back in your step. Do I guess right?

Also, at the moment you describe the business as being an assembler rather than a manufacturer. A more positive description might be OEM.

Do you do design in house? Or contract it out? (Or have your products been fairly fixed while you have been there?). What kind of components do you buy in? Do you buy in sub-assemblies or individual components? If you are going more into supplying kit then how much scope is there to bring more of the manufacturing in house to keep more control and more profit?

Hmmm... I'm all excited thinking through the possibilities and I'm only involved vicariously through your blog.
