What a difference a year makes, in Cloud Accounting terms at least.

E-conomic had a stand at the 2020 annual conference in Birmingham earlier this month and discovered that people’s understanding of the cloud has changed dramatically over the past 12 months.

The 2020 Membership Group is the leading membership organisation for helping accountants and tax professionals throughout Europe, North America, Africa and Australasia, and as organisers of the conference they obviously appreciate that accountants can reap enormous benefits from the Cloud.

At last year’s conference, a lot of attendees had little knowledge about the Cloud, but this year, things were very different. Accountancy practices now have much more awareness about Cloud Accounting and are keen to discover the distinguishing features of various applications.

There’s also now more choice for anybody wanting to move into the Cloud. E-conomic was one of five exhibitors promoting cloud applications, but there are many others who were not in attendance.

It was reassuring to see that some of the accountancy practices that are already using the Cloud want to expand their offerings; the message seems to be getting through! The recently launched E-conomic Accountant’s Club was also well received.

Cloud Accounting is definitely here to stay. Some of the other product providers expressed an interest in adding features using E-conomic’s API integration, which allows the exchange of data between E-conomic and other IT systems.

Will we see a marked increase in the number of accountancy practices in the Cloud by the time next year’s 2020 conference comes around? If you haven’t already taken to the Cloud, what’s holding you back?
