Must be bad, yearning for mountains again!
STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN
Four brothers comprise the horseshoe
Arms linking to join them as one
Guarding the ancestral purview
From the old foe that dawns with the sun
The sharp blade of fearless Crib Goch
Stands stalwart askance to the north
With Glyder friends Fawr and Fach
From the red crest this scion looks forth
Y Lliwedd is the southern most shield
At his feet the deep brooding Brittany
The bravest of men would here yield
When faced with this valiant epitome
To the left stands Carnedd Ugain
Near tall as his regal sibling
Whose stern face brings despairing frown
To those seeking to topple the king
Where the grave of the red giant Gawr
Slain in battle which Pendragon did win
Stands tallest and proud of the four
Over Excaliber’s rest in Glaslyn
On this mynydd my spirit runs free
My soul it lifts up and sings loud
When I stand on the shale and the scree
Of this peak of snow, ice, mist and cloud
Its beauty brings speech in awed whisper
With a view from sunrise to sunset
At the top of the stairway Yr Wyddfa
I am closest to Heaven still yet

Strangely enough ...
... Country File was on Snowdonia this week - thoroughly enjoyable watch.
Snowdonia
While agreeing that Snowdonia is indeed heaven on earth I admit to preferring the quieter Cnicht and Cader Idris to the big 'un....and my wife may not have enjoyed Countryfile quite as much as I did due to the constant 'I know where that is - that's.......' coming from my direction. She gets a joy from choral music that I receive from the hills!
