How come the day is so long?

February 20 - What always strikes me when i return to work after a holiday is just how long the working day is.

I won't notice by Wednesday but right now it seems an interminable age since I got here this morning and it's only 5pm.

It makes me wonder why we haven't found more efficient ways of working. After all, we don't all love every minute of it, do we? Not even me.
