Interview

I’ve got myself an interview.  I’m in turns both excited and nervous.  Thing is the interview is for a very specialist role. I’ve been revising for it and it feels good to be reading something technical and challenging. I do know about the subject but it has been almost three years since I last worked and been in the swing of things where you do things, give advice etc. on a regular basis that it becomes second nature to you.

I’m sure once I start working it will be fine but until then how do I show that I can be good at my job? But then again, how do I know I’ll be good at my job and how long will it take me to get back into the swing of things?  Honestly, I think the technical side will be too much in the interview.  I’m surprised I even got this far and got selected to be interviewed. It’s a part time role so I will have the best of both worlds, in theory.  I’m already feeling guilty at the thought of leaving my daughters behind for even two days, well especially my younger daughter.

I still want to start my own practice but working for someone else also seems good as I can leave my work once I step out the office.  I feel like I’m forever going round in circles with my stupid dilemmas.  For now I’m just going to concentrate on this interview that’s coming up and then worry about what to do after.

Well Done!!

Brilliant - well done I really hope it goes well for you.

If the technical part (what is it?) is something familiar it will flood back when yu need it like riding a bike. Anyway don't be afraid to say you don't know some fine detail -as in practice I often say to a client it'll come back to you so I can check some finer point - better to be like that than waffle rubbish!! I'm sure they would want that too.

Do let us know how you get on :)

Mike :)

Good luck!

Firstly well done and really good luck for it. And secondly - remind yourself that there is a lot of competition for jobs, especially I'd suggest for decent part-time ones, so to get the interview is a fantastic achievement. And more importantly it shows that they figured you had a lot more potential than all the other applicants they didn't choose to interview. So they believe you probably have the ability, now you need to do the same!

It'll all come flooding back quickly. And your kids will survive your absence - plus you'll feel more mentally invigorated when you're with them so they'll benefit too. Go wow them!!!
