It has been a few years since I last had an interview for a new job - although I have conducted interviews as the employer.
I recently drove 50 miles to attend an interview at the offices of a recruitment consultant in another town, having booked an afternoon off work at short notice, as you do.
I should point out that the employer is actually 3 miles from my house.
Anyway, the interview was conducted by two people, and the questions were fairly standard competency based ones -
What struck me as odd was that the interviewers introduced the interview as a form of 'speed dating', explaining this was not part of the 'formal process', and, if successful the next stage would be a 'first' interview, followed by a second interview followed by presentations. The interview lasted 35 minutes.
I came away thinking it was a bit cheeky, given the hoops I had already gone through to attend - and that the prospective employer wants too many bites of the cherry.
My opinion may change if I get to the next stage - and I suppose this is indicative of the employers market that recruitment currently is.;

Wow
Even without the speed dating element, 2 interviews and presentations sounds OTT to me! Whatever happened to a first interview to get it down to 2 or 3 good prospects and a final 2nd interview where you make your decision?
You should have got up after 5 minutes and explained that the whole point of speed dating was speed. And if they wanted a further 30 minutes at that point you'd be counting it as a 'first date' and would expect dinner. (And as for a bite of the cherry - well I hope you're not that easy!!)
Good luck though if you decide that they rate a tick on YOUR scorecard and you want the job.
