It was a good couple of days at the 2020 Annual Conference with nearly 400 in attendance.

In case you didn't get there, here are my top quotes from the various speakers followed by some observations and predictions of my own.

'There is an influx of non-accountants starting up businesses in the profession.'

'You have an accounting business, not an accounting practice.'

'As soon as you get your marketing people doing admin or other tasks, it just doesn't work.'

'Those with the best IT and data systems, usually win.'

Loyalty to current accountants is strong. You'll only break loyalty when your value proposition appeals to their commercial self-interest.

How many pieces of software sit on shelves in accounting firms because they were seduced by making money rather than helping clients?

Those accounting firms with the best technology will win the compliance war. The best relationship builders will win the advisory war.
