The problem with the Yorkshire Dales is that it is one of the few places I have been to where I cannot get a 3G signal.

Unless you break a leg and need rescuing ...

Why would you want to do anything but relax, soak up the scenery and enjoy it's beauty?

Exactly Shirley and that's why I also posted this:

:)

I've just spent two weeks in a lovely village called West Burton. The only place I could get 3G to check on emails was literally at the top of the village green so I didn't check them that often!

I hope you had a great time :)

I once camped at Richmond and the river flooded and our campsite turned to mud, but being young, and it being the first ever holiday on my bike (and without my parents) ... me & my mate still had a great time :)

I think ...

... there should be checkpoints to remove all devices other than dedicated camera's  from anyone entering the dales.

@ Shirley - I was at Richmond a few weeks ago, before travelling on to Durham for the night. Luckily the weather was glorious so no flooding occured. A pub at the side of the river would have been nice though :-)

I love Richmond ...

... there's a lovely cafe under one of the arches of the bridge where you can sit and watch the Thames flow by. Plenty of pubs too!!

Sounds perfect

The perfect excuse for avoiding all human contact. Sounds like sheer bliss to me. And you can even pretend that you didn't realise there'd be no signal so everyone thinks you were gutted and would have spent your holiday in constant contact had you been able.

The Northeners have all the common sense.

@Mrme89
Did you enjoy your visit to Durham. It's one of the countries best kept secrets say nowt otherwise loads of southerners will come. I love been a Durham lad.

@Glennzy

Really enjoyed it! The weather was brilliant, and it was good sat outside with a pint listening to the brass band play. We are already planning another trip, possibly the bank holiday weekend.
