SageOne Accounts is an online accounting software for small business in service industry. The review of the software reveals SageOne a bit immature, lacking a range of features covered in in following paragraphs.
Contacts
Apart from adding contacts one by one, there is a nice and most importantly working "Import" functionality that ramps up data transfer, hence facilitating quicker implementation, unless you have existing customers with their balances.
Sadly, importing or adding customers/suppliers with their balances were sidelined.
Items
Similar to Contacts, adding products/services are quite straightforward as it should be and importing multiple service items were quick and precise. However, even though SageOne has arranged items into Products and Services separately, by no means, these two types differ except for one extra field - "Code" and "Cost Price" in Products. So, alas there is no inventory management either, like in most online accounting software we have reviewed as of today.
Invoicing
SageOne offers intuitive sales invoice creation and several well designed invoice templates to choose from.
Adding sales invoice line items in SageOne differs to what we have observed so far, yet we found it practical. However, we still consider SageOne invoicing quite rigid, due to inability to delete Credit Notes and register customer prepayments.
When it came to invoicing "Service" and "Product" we found no distinguishing transaction. For example, "Product" having "Cost Price" would be an eligible laureate to affect both, income and expense.
In addition, as business need would have it, recurring invoices were and are a default feature in most accounting applications that does not hold true in SageOne.
We were also unable to record customer prepayments or excess payments in the system, and allocate customer credits across outstanding sales invoices, that limits SageOne's usage.
