A while back, I blogged about an issue over the RTI file update for March this year. As far as I can tell, whilst my file seemed perfect from my print, there must have been some corruption as it travelled through HMRC.
Suffice to say, HMRC showed that I had underpaid - because they hadn't processed the file correctly.
I advised them of this in May.
When I phoned up again the other week, I was told this problem would be very complicated to fix, and would typically take 18 months.
I did express some suprise, as I only have 28 staff to check through, but there you go.
