Two chance pictures today, but not for the squeamish ...

Had an hour or three to kill before my flight home and found myself on Balmedie Beach.

This first picture was just a trial to get the exposure right (needed some adjustment, difficult day though as light kept changing) and to get my eye in, I thought I was just tracking a tern flying past but when I looked back I saw he had a large fish in his bill, if you wanted this picture you would be hours waiting.

The next is even better, I saw a large raptor circling, thought it was probably a buzzard but quite high and no binoculars so took a few pictures. Thought he looked like he was carrying something, but at the distance he was I couldn't be sure, thought may be just his tail steering him. When I was looking on a big screen when I got home it turns out I was right and he was circling with half a rabbit in his talons!

I also made time ...

... to visit the Kelpies, ShirleyM, if you can you should go. They are so moving, you can feel the horse spirit in them - the one with its head down makes you want to hold out your palm and proffer a polo mint.

I also went for a look at the Falkirk Wheel and was lucky enough to see it in action.

Great pics

The nearest we got to the Falkirk wheel and the horses was the Prunella Scales / Timothy West canal program.

Would like to see them one day.
