This morning there was an item on the BBC website about the disgusting and unfit conditions of a number of HMOs in Blackpool in particular the state of their kitchen. The pictures alone are enough to put you off your food but it got me wondering.
How clean are our own kitchens. I reckon most of us cut a few corners here and there especially when very busy or strapped for time. I am houseproud and like to think that my own kitchen is neat, tidy and most of all safe to eat in . Every now and then I look something that I may have left in the fridge or on the counter that is about to walk out , it is that old , and ask myself whether I would eat in such a kitchen if it was in somebody else's house or politely decline the fayre on offer.
What about your kitchen .... or even the state of your practice kitchen ?

Our office kitchen is spotless
Two women use it. We clear up the spills straight away, wash the pots for every use, and tidy the kitchen before going home, etc.
My home kitchen isn't so great, but then, my retired hubbie lives there and he doesn't respond to training!
it may be spotless
But is it clean
Is it clean ?
Invite your neighbours in and see if they eat...then again what is their house like ?
My wife says that on some of the home visits she makes in a professional healthcare capacity , she wipes her feet on the way out !
Too clean
Apparently people whose houses are too clean are more susceptible to germs because their bodies aren't used to them and they haven't built up tolerances. So when they encounter a random germ they become ill, whereas other people's bodies would fight it off without any signs of the germ ever having existed.
So any time I'm in someone else's kitchen I make sure I cough and sneeze over as many surfaces as I can and if I use their toilet I touch as many surfaces as possible before washing my hands. Just to be helpful. Not many people are as considerate as me.
My wife works part-time which means our home is always spotless.
She has me and the kids trained to pick up after ourselves too.
I don’t think we are more susceptible to colds because our home is clean. I’m sure we come into allsorts outside of the home on a daily basis.
Catching bugs
The trouble these days is not necessarily being too clean , it is the disinfectants which are killing our immunity and probably killing lots of people directly. It'll be the next big thing in compensation.
You could clean the kitchen with hot water no doubt
It's a trade off....catching a cold or scalding yourself
Whizz Systems
That's all well and good but is their kitchen clean?
Clean or not ?
It matters not - the boiling water kills off all the germs . Simple !
Admittedly though it can be somewhat offputting even if you have neutralised the germs and mould , sorry did I not mention mould ?
