Welcome to my new blog, which will be a place where I intend to post fairly regularly about IT, software development, new technologies and, well, I guess anything which might be of interest to you.

So, a brief introduction...

I'm the CFO and a co-founder of Industrial CodeBox. Early in my career I began to qualify with CIMA, although when I left my employment to start my first business venture I put it on hold. I'm very close to finishing my qualification and will get round to completing the last exams...

No, really I will. Only yesterday I sat Financial Strategy and if I'm successful with that then it's just the case study to go! I've got some friends sitting the case study today, so my fingers are crossed for them.

As a business, amongst a number of things, we've developed a product called akkOmi, which produces visual performance reports based on the year end financial statements that accountants will produce for their clients. It doesn't replace the financial statements, rather it compliments them and is a value-adding report that accountants give to their clients.

Oh, and I don't intend to turn this blog into an ongoing akkOmi advert such as this week we released a new version of akkOmi that works with VT Final Accounts - that would be boring. Although, no doubt it might get a mention if its of interest.

We also work heavily in the field of Business Intelligence and in particular we're a partner company of a great product called QlikView. Unlike many of their partners, we tend to focus on integrating QlikView into other environments like the web, mobile devices and diversifying the product from Business Intelligence into other sectors such as Information Access and eCommerce. This means that we're often utilising, researching new technologies or innovating new products so if I come across something new, I'll be sure to post.
