Companies House and Business Link - Outrageous !!!

You may have heard that on the 6/4/11 business Link will be offering a new service to assist with the electronic incorporation of companies via a business relationship with Companies House.  That’s the good news.

The shocking news is that they will be deliberately seeking to avoid doing any anti- money laundering checks.  As accountants when we incorporate companies for our clients we somewhat assist in keeping the criminals out, by insisting that we verify the directors and subscribers identity and address at the very least. From the 6/4/11 it appears that whilst we are obliged to continue doing our job of keeping criminals out Business Link will be seeking to avoid this, taking advantage of a legal loophole that exists. This is absolutely scandalous and will soon come back to bite on both Business Link, Companies House, the Coalition Government and Vince Cable. If you have a similar view about this then I would recommend that you write to your MP. Yes i do have an interest in this story -  we operate www.wisteriaformations.co.uk and we will be in competition with Business Link.  But this is not the issue.  The issue is about keeping criminals out and ensuring that Business Link do the right thing.
