Heat is not good for business. We have strict dress codes for those visiting customer premises. Many of these are for health and safety reasons. They are harder to enforce in this weather. #
Around the yard shorts are on view – with a rash of tattoos on display as a result I never knew our staff possessed.
The accounts department (entirely female right now) has also hit shorts big time. Fewer tattoos on display, but petty cash claims and payroll queries seem to be more popular than usual.
And productivity is always reduced. We approximate to some air conditioning with the usual British slap-dash approach on the basis it is only needed for a few days a year. If this carries on this will be a mistake. Give it less than two weeks though and the heat-wave will be over. I’m on holiday – in the UK. Storms, tempests and the odd flood will follow, you can be sure.
I could almost fancy that right now.
In the meantime I’ve told people to be tidy tomorrow – the shareholders are in and she will complain if they aren’t and he’ll be all over the accounts team. Yuck! It’s my job to save them from that.
