It's been a couple of weeks since my last blog, and it's gone like a whirlwind.  Who would have thought accountancy could be such fun?!

Rebecca mentions on her editorial this week about having met myself and Sarah Dunks - a fellow Class of 2009 member - at a training event in Worcester.  I've never done so much CPD as in the last year since setting up my business.

Last week I had to complete my Annual Return with Companies House and suddenly realised it's a year since I set up my business.  I therefore started reflecting on the year, and then thinking forward to the next year.

My aim was to have 20 clients by the end of the first year - I am very proud to have achieved that target.  I didn't set any financial targets (do as I say, not as I do!).

I met up with a friend today who I hadn't seen for a while - he was my line manager 7 years ago and I have a lot of respect for him and his business success.  We talked about what I was doing and I realised just how much I enjoy it, and how much I don't miss Large Corporate.  It didn't seem as if much had changed within that business.  My only thought was that I could have earned lots more money than I have - but it really isn't important.

So what next?  I mentioned in a previous blog about looking at software.  I can safely say after many hours of thought I'm no further forward.  I haven't made a decision one way or another.  I've set my target for next year as 30 "quality" clients by the end of the year.  I already have a couple who I could quite happily lose, but that's another story.  I also want to stop working evenings and weekends, but I'm not sure I have the self-discipline while the office is just downstairs.

Have a great weekend all, and I will be off celebrating my accountingweb fame!!

Liz
