Welcome back

Returning AccountingWEB.co.uk Editor John Stokdyk explains some internal changes to make the site bigger and better in 2010.

This week, thousands and thousands of office-bound accountants are negotiating difficult travel conditions and getting back into the daily grind. Of course those accountants with 31 December year ends will have had their hands full in the past few weeks and many tax practitioners will have spent the holiday with turkey sandwiches and Self Assessment tax returns. Happy New Year to you too - and at least there are only four weeks to go before you can return to normal life.

As we enter the New Year, AccountingWEB.co.uk is making a few changes to strengthen the team and expand the news and technical content the site delivers. After an extended sabbatical as a roving technology correspondent, I am returning full time as AccountingWEB.co.uk Editor. I will continue to work alongside our capable Deputy Editor, Gina Dyer, and Rebecca Benneyworth, who will continue to give us the benefit of her expertise as our Tax Editor.

Rebecca has made great strides in the past year to strengthen our tax coverage and raise the profile of AccountingWEB within the profession and the corridors of power. As well as paying tribute to all she has achieved, I’d like to add how honoured and pleased I am to be working alongside her as we take AccountingWEB forward into its third decade.

We have also recruited Practice Track and PracticeWEB founder Mark Lloydbottom as a regular contributor on development and marketing issues. He will join all the other correspondents, columnists and bloggers who make AccountingWEB.co.uk the liveliest and most up-to-the minute accounting resource on the web. Our plan is to expand the site to deliver more content and advice to make your working life easier and more productive in 2010.

As always, your input is what sets AccountingWEB.co.uk apart. Let us know if you’ve got any ideas and requests for the site, or niggles that you’d like to see fixed. You can comment below, or send a private message to me via the site or email editor[at]accountingweb.co.uk.

Tax returns permitting, we look forward to seeing more of you this year!
