Old money strikes again

The good thing about a busy January is that we have sent out a couple of hundred invoices! A bit caught out by one of my older clients who has paid his bill very promptly - and written his cheque as “two hundred and thirty one pounds and fifteen shillings”! Is it worth banking it anyway? I don't suppose the bank cashier will have any more idea what a shilling is than my office junior.

Those of you who don't do agricultural work may be surprised to learn that we still see the odd livestock invoices in guineas, some auctioneers still prefer them to pounds. They always catch the accounts team out too.
