Snowed it - almost

Trust me to be the only one who doubted the Met Office! I decided not to bother bringing any files home and was then stuck at home all morning waiting for the local roads to clear, although I did manage to send some emails and make phone calls.

This is one of those rare occasions when I can feel fully justified in driving a 4-wheel drive SUV. Just as well too - sat at home this evening in front of the fire, had just opened a bottle of red wine and the phone goes - its the burglar alarm monitoring people, the office alarm is going off! So I had to valiently brave snow drifts - along with quite a few other 4WD vehicles - to re-set the alarm. Faulty sensor. Not sure if the police ever turned up, I didn't wait around to find out.

....when your alarm goes off. We pay £40 a month for Chubb Emergency response. This covers all alarm callouts and it  means they deal with false alarms, not one of our staff! They can also arrange remedial work if a callout was caused by vandalism, say.... We get a report on our desk the next morning, which we can then follow up at our convenience.
