VAT online - they really, really want it!

Good job we were already thinking about this. Just had the third phone call from a client (not the same one) asking if we can help with online VAT submissions!

Now we need a system.

Unfortunately our Sage SAPA accounts prep software doesn't have ay interrogation facility, I'd dearly like to get a list of VAT-registered clients with turnover over £100K. Looks like we'll have to cobble it together from memory and a bit of inspired guesswork, plus a bit of tedious file reading. Just the sort of thing for the tax team to while away the time in February.

Online VAT returns filing

I have just received a notification that a dormant subsidiary of my main company has to file VAT returns online from 1 April 2010 as HMRC records show that the business has a turnover of at least £100,000. This company has filed nil returns (elcectronically of course) for the last 3 years so it looks like decisions are being made on less than perfect information. I don't think I'll bother to use the appeal procedure though!

Looks like you may be getting a few unexpected phone calls about this.
