Your most effective marketing tool

When I was in practice my first book (101 ways to make more profits) was our practice's single most effective sales and marketing tool.

I used it to generate most of our sales leads by (a) writing lots of press releases about it, (b) offering it as a freebie to businesses that contacted me, and (c) giving copies to bankers and other referral sources to both establish my reputation with them and also so they could give it to their contacts.

It was also a great way to improve our sales lead conversion rate - ie the % of people I met that became clients. Since the book gave us instant respect, credibility and trust.

THE BEST WAY = Write your own book aimed squarely at the type of businesses you want as clients. My first book took about 150 hours, and ended up being sold all around the world. The royalties certainly won't change your life, but new client it will bring you certainly will.

THE EASIEST WAY = If you haven't got a spare 150 hours, get someone else to write it for you. Professional writers are much more affordable than you think (for example I know one who will do an excellent job for just £500 for an entire book - contact me if you want his details) for details. Alternatively there may be a member of your team who is up for the challenge. Or even a Uni student (it would look great on their CV)

PS   I like this idea so much that my new book aimed at OMBs ("Stress proof your business and your life") will be on sale on 27 August. And already the entire weight of Amazon is helping to promote it. So I suspect the benefits of a book are greater now than ever before. You can get a sneak preview here...
