Does the wording or layout of audit reports make any difference whatsoever to any ordinary reader of the accounts, or for that matter, any informed reader of the accounts,- who actually reads them? Does anyone really care? Is there anyone out there who does read the audit report on a set of accounts? Unless it says something controversial - like how often does that happen!

Don’t you just wish you could say something like

Short form
Hey guys, you all know we have to audit you because the law says we must
We did the accounts for you, but you told us what to put in them, and we havent changed them
We/I am not liable for anything I say here – as we agreed,
Nothing really to let you know that we havent told you about before, or that you don’t already know
Hope to see you next year

There is a long form, but why bother - would anyone read it?

PS I havent changed my mind; the above doesn't mean audits are a waste of time, just the constant aggravation of updating/reviewing/checking every word, reference, responsibility and caveat in a report, which even I dont read, unless forced .. and as for the interaction of CA2006 and charities - don't get me started.
