Business confidence on the up in SME market place

An online survey conducted at the end of last year has revealed increased confidence in the small business sector. The survey of 4,000 business owners- over 200 of which were AccountingWEB members - was carried out by HSBC in partnership with the independent research consultancy The Future Foundation, and offers an interesting insight into the attitudes of UK small businesses, such as:

A shorter working week, yes please. Work-life balance has become a key issue in recent years; around half of us would like a shorter working week, even if it means less pay.

Confidence is on the up. The UK Business Referendum suggests a resurgence of business confidence at the start of 2005 and represents the most positive set of confidence results for the small business sector in five years...
