HMRC targets 200 intern employers

HMRC is contacting 200 employers who recently advertised for interns, as part of a campaign to ensure they’re paying them the national minimum wage (NMW).

The Revenue will send letters to the companies, some of which believed to be household names, and carry out targeted checks.

If the companies aren’t complying with the law, it’s likely they will face prosecution and a ‘naming and shaming’.
