Mike Rake, the international chairman of Big Four firm KPMG was given a knighthood in the New Year's honours for his services to the accountancy profession.
Rake served as KPMG's UK senior partner for eight years, before moving on to become chairman of the international firm last year. In addition to growing the UK practice, Rake has been a prominent voice in debates on professional regulation, financial reporting reform and corporate social responsibility. In addition to regular media interviews, Rake collaborated with the Financial Times to post a three-day blog from the World Economic Forum in Davos last January.
His Honour Stephen Oliver QC, the presiding Special Commissioner and president of the VAT and Duties Tribunal and Financial Services and Markets Tribunals was also knighted.
