SMEs take to accreditation

A UK accreditation company has said that the vast majority of the companies it accredits are SMEs.

Exor Management Services, which provides accreditation services for more than 10% of UK local authorities, says that over 90% of suppliers accredited by them are SMEs, and that of these 71% are smaller than 50 employees.

It says that this progress follows a change in its business model to provide a 'Small Business Friendly staircase' to enable SMEs to 'embrace the government marketplace by making the accreditation process more assessable and affordable.'

Accreditation enables supplier members to enter the public sector marketplace and to 'bid competitively in one of largest buying sectors in the UK (140bn per year in supplier contracts).'
