The FSA has today issued final rules and guidance that will help ensure with-profits policyholders are treated fairly.
In a statement it said, "The rules are the last major component of a project launched by the FSA in February 2001 aimed at increasing the transparency and accountability of the sector. Until now there have been no rules in the UK dealing specifically with fairness issues for with-profits policyholders."
David Strachan, the FSA's Sector Leader for Insurance, said: "The publication of this policy statement marks the completion by the FSA of the development of more effective rules and guidance to protect with-profits policyholders. The new rules will bring further transparency and accountability to the with‑profits sector."
